Forest School Taster sessions
Muddy Feet offer Forest School taster sessions, these taster sessions introduce the ethos of Forest School. These sessions offer you the opportunity to experience a Forest School session for yourself, you will participate in activities and reflect on the learning involved. There is also a question and answer session over a cup of tea, coffee or hot chocolate! This session is held completely outdoors and can be held on a suitable school site, a local site or local woodland. These sessions are usually 2 hours long and can be delivered as twilight learning sessions.

OCN L2 Award in Assisting Forest School
This accredited course is aimed at those who work alongside Forest School Leaders, this qualification is not suitable for those wishing to lead Forest School sessions. The course is 4 days including a practical skill assessment day, to gain the award you will need to complete a portfolio of evidence. This award usually takes 6 months to complete so you will need to ensure you have time to complete the work, you will also need to be able to work alongside a Forest School Leader to deliver at least 4 sessions. The award is worth 8 credits, to gain the award you will need to complete the following units:
- Supporting Learning, Play and Development in the Outdoors
- Sustainable Use of Natural Resources
- Outdoor Practical Skills
- Assist at Forest school

OCN L3 Certificate in Leading Forest School
This accredited course is aimed at those wishing to set up and lead Forest School sessions. The course is 7 days including 2 practical skill assessment days. To gain the certificate you will need to attend all 7 training days and complete a portfolio of evidence. This certificate usually takes 9 months to complete so you will need time to complete this portfolio and you will be required to lead 6 Forest School sessions to the same group. Entry requirements for this award apply.
This certificate is worth 14 credits and to gain the certificate you will need to complete the following units:
- Supporting learning, play and development in the outdoors.
- Observation and evaluation of outdoor learning
- Sustainable use of natural resources
- Teach outdoor practical skills
- Forest School Leader

CPD Skill development days/ INSET days
For those who wish to practise their skills we offer skill development days, these can include shelter building, starting, maintaining and cooking on fire. Skill development days are half days, whole days and twilight sessions.

We work directly with schools, nurseries, preschools and organisations to advise, build skills and confidence in Forest School delivery. Many of the staff we have worked with have then gone on to attend taster sessions and accredited courses.
